WPGA Hardware Program
The 18th hole on the Blue Course at Penn State Golf Courses.
In 2002, the Association approved the WPGA Hardware Program to assist Member Clubs with the computation of member handicaps in conjunction with our handicap computation service, GHIN®, a USGA Service. The original phase was to place a hardware package that included a desktop PC, a monitor, and a label and desktop printers.
There is no charge to participate in this program for WPGA Member Clubs.
The program also enabled our Member Clubs to print all of the reports necessary, including member handicap labels, at the club. The change also allowed the Association to update each Handicap Index® overnight rather than the transmit on Tuesday evening, and update handicaps and receive the handicap reports on Friday model that had been in place.
Shortly after touch screen monitors were added to the package and a nominal fee that was originally included to cover the expenses associated with maintenance, travel and repair was dropped. Additionally, all supplies necessary to run the GHIN® software were included in the program at no charge to WPGA Member Clubs; these include cart signs, scorecards and gift certificates for use with the Tournament Pairing Program, and shaft labels and WPGA Membership Cards for use with the GHIN Handicap Program.
Since the Association owns the hardware, Member Clubs do not need to worry about its maintenance or upkeep. If any part of the package fails it will be repaired onsite or replaced by the WPGA. And the Association routinely upgrades and replaces the hardware to keep pace with changes in technology.
Please contact the Association by email or phone (412-826-2180) with any questions or if you need assistance, or you can find information on the WPGA Product Support page.
