WPGA Brothers Tournaments

The 6th hole at Shannopin Country Club, annual host of the WPGA Brothers Tournament & WPGA Brothers Net Tournament

First contested in 1950 in honor of two brothers who had been killed in World War II, the WPGA Brothers Tournament has been held every year since its inception at Shannopin Country Club and is traditionally held the first Friday of August. The championship is an 18-hole event, Chapman format, with at least one brother being a member of a WPGA Member Club. The championship features both a gross and net competition and is open to amateurs as well as professionals.

The team of Bud and Dick Semple, whom the Association's WPGA Century Foursomes Championship is named, won the inaugural event. The team of Chick and Rob Wagner has been dominate in the championship, having won the title a record ten times. The ten victories came over a span of four decades from 1970-2000. In 2005, the Wagner brothers passed the team of Jack and George Benson (7 wins) for most titles. Dick and Frank Fuhrer, Jr. have played in the event a record 55 times and won the event in 1960. In 2010 Dave & Perry Graciano won their third title, a remarkable feat considering it had been 32 years sine their last victory when they had won the competition back-to-back in 1977 & 78.
