GREENSBURG — The WPGA returns to Hannastown Golf Club Thursday for the 15th Senior Four-Ball Championship.

Started in 2011, the Senior-Four Ball Championship is a 36-hole stroke play competition that will feature two divisions: the Senior and the Super-Senior.

A year ago, the teams of Arnold Cutrell and Frank Fairman, and Don Erickson and Joseph Corsi, took home the Senior and Super-Senior Divisions, respectively.

Cutrell and Fairman shot 11-under in the competitions, which was held at Green Oaks Country Club. Erickson and Corsi, meanwhile, carded a 5-under score and beat Fred Stern and Jan Rihs in a playoff.

Both winning duos will look to defend their titles on Thursday, with Cutrell and Fairman playing in a group at 8:10 a.m. alongside Bill Rosemeyer and Bob Crnjarich — a two-time champion of the event.

Erickson and Corsi will play in a group with Shaun Lacey and Joe Brado in the final group at 9:30 a.m.

All-time, there has been one name that has had the most success in the Senior Four-Ball: Bob Allshouse.

Phil Saylor and Allshouse won the first Senior Four-Ball Championship, and Allshouse has been part of five winning teams over the years, with two victories in the Senior division and three in the Super-Senior Division, which was introduced in 2018.

He will compete this year in the Super-Senior field with Vince Zachetti, who he teamed up with for titles in 2020 and 2021.

There are 20 teams signed up to compete Thursday, with two teams per starting time, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
