PITTSBURGH — One golfer will land a spot in the 80th U.S. Women’s Open in Tuesday’s Qualifying Round at Shannopin Country Club.

The field consists of 39 players who will play two continuous rounds at the Pittsburgh-area course.

Numerous players with ties to Western Pennsylvania are in the field, including reigning WPGA Women’s Amateur champion Marissa Malosh.

The 2024 WPGA Junior Girls Player of the Year, Mya Morgan, will tee off just ahead of Malosh’s group and be in a group with professional Marissa Steen and Butler native Paige Scott, who plays collegiately at Oakland.

The field consists of ten professionals and 29 amateurs. Among the pros will be Rachel Rohanna, a Western Pennsylvania native who last year emerged as the top qualifier at Shannopin and played in the U.S. Women’s Open.

Players from the United States, Canada and England will be represented Tuesday, as well.

Play will begin at 8 a.m. off of the first tee, with the final group set to tee off at 9:50 a.m.

Two alternate positions will also be earned for the U.S. Women’s Open, to be held at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin from May 29-June 1.
