The WPGA competition most open for a range of skill levels, the 8th WPGA Net and Women’s Net Championships, is set for Tuesday at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course.

Founded in 2017, the WPGA Net and Women’s Net Championships have become a favorite in the West Penn golf schedule, inviting players to compete in flights based off Handicap Index® in both individual and team-based play.

The competition format is 18 holes of Net Stableford Stroke Play. Flights breakdowns are set as follows:

 • John Moorehead Jr. Flight: 5.5 to 8.5 Handicap Index®
 • Joseph Oliver Flight: 8.6 to 12.9 Handicap Index®
 • Joseph Shea Flight: 13.0 to 25.0 Handicap Index®
 • Jeannette Nicholson Price Flight (Women’s): 5.5 Handicap Index® and up

Team scoring will be based on the top three player scores from affiliated member clubs and courses participating in the Championship.

A year ago, at Conoquenessing Country Club, Pat Petit recorded 40 Stableford points and claimed the Richard Falchetti trophy, awarded to the overall winner — his second title in three years.

Matt Passalinqua, who finished second overall with 39 points, won the J. Frederic Byers Flight, and Justin Palmer took the George A. Ormiston Flight.

On her home course, Davis Boyd secured the Women’s Net Championship with 36 Stableford points, edging Michelle Robertson by one point. Her performance helped Connoquenessing win the team title, as well.

Jim Roberts captured the 2022 overall crown, contested at Cranberry Highlands.

Passalinqua, Roberts, Palmer and Boyd are all set to play Tuesday.

The WPGA will welcome a field of 81 golfers to Cranberry Highlands, including two local radio personalities in 93.7 The Fan’s Chris Mueller — a past participant in the Net Championships — and Y108 host Cale Berger, who makes his competitive debut. Paul Nussbaum of 93.7 The Fan’s Going Low golf channel will compete in the event, as well.

Be sure to follow the WPGA social media channels, X (Twitter), Instagram and Facebook for featured content on their rounds.

Starting times begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday with three groups of women’s players to start, followed by the men’s field that stretches to 12:20 p.m.
