WPGA announces updates to Competition Policies
By WPGA • February 14, 2024
PITTSBURGH – The Western Pennsylvania Golf Association is pleased to announce changes and enhancements to our policies and procedures for competitions beginning in 2024.
Below are the changes that will be implemented in the coming competition season:
Scoring
The WPGA has adopted Model Local Rule L-1 which will be in effect for all WPGA Competitions.
• MLR L-1 - If a player returns a scorecard without the hole scores being certified either by the player the marker or both, the player gets the general penalty (two penalty strokes).
The WPGA Code of Conduct has been revised to include a Mobile Scoring Rule.
• At least one player from each group of a WPGA competition is required to enter hole-by-hole scores into the Golf Genius Mobile App to maintain accurate LIVE SCORING for that specific pairing/tournament. This must be done in a timely manner, which means after the completion of each hole and prior to completing the subsequent hole.
WPGA Entries for Qualifying Rounds & Championship Exemptions
In WPGA Competitions where qualifying rounds are scheduled, no late entries will be accepted.
Players who are exempt for a WPGA Championship must confirm their registration prior to the close of entries.
Senior Series Events
The WPGA Senior Series II event hosted by The Links at Spring Church on July 16th will be Stableford Format for both the gross and net divisions.
