Chartiers Country Club, host of the 2023 WPGA Senior Amateur Championship

2023 Competition Season Preview

The Western Pennsylvania Golf Association kicks off its competition season with the first of four Senior Series events on May 2nd at Diamond Run Golf Club. Other Senior events on the schedule include the Senior Amateur Championship at Chartiers Country Club on September 19th and 20th and the Senior Four-Ball Championship on September 28th at Wildwood Golf Club.

The month of May will also see host to the Foursomes Championships at Longue Vue Country Club on May 8th and the 30th Spring Stroke Play Championship at Nemacolin Country Club on May 11th. Hosted by Hannastown Golf Club in 2022, Amani D’Ambrosio looks to defend his Spring Stroke Play title at Nemacolin this year.

The 120th WPGA Open Championship will be played at Edgewood Country Club on June 19th through the 21st. Edgewood is celebrating its 125th year in 2023. Qualifying rounds will be on May 25th at Diamond Run Golf Club and June 1st at Montour Heights Country Club. Neal Shipley was victorious at the 119th Open Championship at The Club at Nevillewood.

Brady Pevarnik won the 122nd WPGA Amateur Championship hosted by Butler Country Club in 2022. This year, the 123rd Amateur Championship will be hosted by Hannastown Golf Club on July 10th and 11th with qualifying rounds taking place on May 17th at Sinking Valley Country Club, May 18 at Hickory Heights Golf Club, May 22nd at Lawrence Park Golf Club, and June 8th at Latrobe Elks Lodge Golf Club.
