Pitcairn and Piatt win Brand, Devita and Wickett win Semple

In a Foursome event, two players on a side alternate shots until the hole is completed. This format is tricky, as momentum is difficult to obtain when a player is hitting every other shot opposite their partner.
Longue Vue Club in Verona played host for the 68th Fred Brand Foursomes Championship and the 27th Semple Brothers Foursomes Championship. The field was split into two divisions: an open division for the Fred Brand Championship and a 55+ division for the Semple Brothers Championship.
Nathan Piatt and Carter Pitcairn found their momentum early and often throughout the day, firing rounds of 73 and 68 for a score of +1. Their closest competition was the group of Bradlee Frank and Nick Sorkin, who finished off the day at +4. Piatt and Pitcairn’s three-stroke cushion was enough to secure the title as the Fred Brand Foursome Champions.
Jim Devita and Mike Wickett had an easier time securing their own victory for the Semple Brothers Foursome Championship. With scores of 71 and 73 (+4), they found themselves with a six-stroke lead at the end of their final round. Devita and Wickett placed third in last year’s event, finishing with a 36-hole score of 147 (+11).
