WPGA Girls’ Junior Match Play created

The WPGA Executive Committee has approved the start of the WPGA Girls’ Junior Match Play Invitational to begin this season. The inaugural event will be held July 31 & 31 at Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier and will be conducted concurrently with the C.R. Miller Match Play Invitational.

Modeled after the C.R. Miller, the top eight players will be invited to compete in the championship based on the Girls Junior Honor Roll points list as of July 18, 2018. To be eligible the player must reside in the WPGA’s jurisdiction and have not reached her 19th birthday as of midnight on July 31, 2018.

The WPGA Girls Junior Honor Roll points list has been modeled after the Junior Honor Roll. Player’s interested in competing, please review the Girls Junior Honor Roll Formula.

“The C.R. Miller is one of our most popular junior events, so it makes sense for the WPGA to also conducted a similar competition to better support girls golf,” WPGA Executive Director said. “Girls golf has become very strong in our region and with the success of LPGA USGA Girls Golf program, now is the right time so start this tournament.”

The Girls Honor Roll points list will also be used to identify the Girls Junior Player of the Year who will be recognized and receive her award at the WPGA Awards Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony this fall.
