Welcome to the 2018 golf season
By WPGA • April 1, 2018

Welcome to the new WPGA.org. On behalf of our committee members, many dedicated volunteers, and staff, we want to again thank you for your continued support. We simply could not conduct the business of the WPGA without it. We hope to see you soon at one of our competitions, outings, Play Days, or even at your local course where we may be course rating, providing workshops or assisting with handicap computation.

We would also like to welcome all of our new members and clubs from the Keystone’s Premier Golf Association as part of our collaboration. We hope you find the level of customer service exceeds your expectations, and we show that your your continued support is worthwhile.

As we embark on a new golf season, we’d like to announce that we have made some changes to our Family Events. A unique aspect of our Family Events is that all are open to anyone with at least one player being a member of the WPGA. Golf professionals are welcome to compete in both.

For the first time since 2008, we will once again conduct the Parent & Child Tournament. This event will be open to teams of mothers & daughters, fathers & sons, mothers & sons, and fathers & daughters in a net competition only. The Father & Son will revert to a gross only competition. Both the Parent & Child and the Father & Son will be conducted concurrently at Southpointe Golf Club on June 19.

The Brothers Tournament will also be conducted as a gross competition only. To accommodate players wishing to compete with a Handicap Index, a Brothers Net Tournament has been created. Both will be held at Shannopin Country Club on July 27.

We are very pleased to announce that the WPGA will conduct a Girls Match Play Championship starting this season. It will be an invitational for the top 8 girls on our points list, and will be conducted concurrently with the C.R. Miller Match Play Invitational. Both events will be at Rolling Rock Club, July 30 & 31.

The West Penn Women’s Amateur, Senior Women’s Amateur, and Super Senior Women’s Amateur championships will continue and will be held at Sewickley Heights Golf Club on August 7. Due to the success of our Inaugural Net Championships, both the Men’s & Women’s Net Championships will be held at Diamond Run Golf Club on June 11.

We wish you all a happy and healthy golf season. We are always available to help should you have any questions or need assistance of any kind. Now it’s time to start playing golf again and posting scores. See you all soon. And thank you.
