Renewal of a Handicap Index® as soon as possible is encouraged. Delay in renewal may result in eligibility issues. Early renewal is important if you maintain your Handicap Index® at a club that does not automatically renew.

An important change to Association Championship Policies for 2018 is under eligibility. For all competitions/events where a Handicap Index® is required for entry, the following applies: A Handicap Index issued by a WPGA Member Club is required for entry. Players without a Handicap Index issued by a club licensed by the WPGA will be directed to an existing WPGA Member Club or an Association-sponsored Type 3 Golf Club.

Scores from individual competitions will be posted by the WPGA to each player's scoring record after the close of competition.

The WPGA will no longer arrange for any type of breakfast on competition days. Lunch will now be available and inclusive of the entry fee for players only on WPGA competition days. Food arrangements for USGA Qualifying Rounds will be communicated to contestants in the Player Information memo.

This season will provide more opportunities for players who may not be eligible for gross competitions conducted by the WPGA. Net Championships for both men and women will be continued. The Net Championship and Women’s Net Championship will be held at Diamond Run Golf Club on June 11. Renewed for this season is the Parent & Child Net Tournament that will be held on June 18 at Southpointe Golf Club. This tournament will replace the net component of the Father & Son Tournament, and add competitive opportunities with handicaps for teams of fathers and sons, fathers and daughters, mothers and daughters, and mothers and sons. Multiple tees will be available and all will compete for the overall trophy. And the net portion previously conducted during the Brothers Tournament will be split into it's own tournament called the Brothers Net Tournament.

The Father & Son Tournament and the Brothers Tournament will be gross scores only starting this year. Golfers wishing to compete for net prizes in the Father & Son will compete in the Parent & Child Net Tournament, and golfers wishing to compete for net prizes in the Brothers Tournament will compete in the Brothers Net Tournament. Players will only be able to compete in one or the other. Please entry the appropriate tournament or division when registering.

Finally, please note that the WPGA offices has moved to the historic district of Allegheny West in the North Side. Please note our new address: WPGA, 930 North Lincoln AVE, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.

Please contact the WPGA office at any time should you have any questions, need assistance, or would like additional information. Thank you for your attention and we look forward to 2018 being filled with great golf competition in the area.
