West Penn Fred Brand Foursomes Championship

The Foursomes Championship was started in 1954 by Jack and Fred Brand, Jr. in honor of their father, Fred Brand, Sr., who was a long-time golf professional at Allegheny Country Club and winer of four West Penn Open Championships. The event consists of thirty-six hole of stroke play of foursomes.

The event has traditionally started the Association's championship season and is our most popular team event. Held every year at Longue Vue Club since 1984, the event became so popular that the Century Division was spun off and is now its own event at Allegheny Country Club where the event was originally played from 1954-1983.

The team of Sean Knapp and Jeff Schroeder have won the event a record eight times. Knapp has also won with Steve Fuhrer (1987-88) and Nathan Smith (2005, 2006, 2008 & 2009). Sean Knapp has been a partner on a winning team fifteen times.
