Championships
The first West Penn Open Championship and Amateur Championship were played at Schenley Park in 1899. Only war years have interrupted these championships. The Open trophy features four golfers who have also won the US Open (Sam Parks, Lew Worsham, Ed Furgol, and Arnold Palmer). The championship schedule has grown to include the Senior Amateur Championship, Mid-Amateur Championship, Tournament of Champions, Public Links ChampionshipWomen's Amateur Championship, Boys Championship, Junior Championship, and C.R. Miller Memorial Match Play Invitational. Team events include the Brothers Championship, Father/Son Championship and Parent/Child Championship, Four-Ball Championship, Fred Brand Foursomes Championship, Semple Century Foursomes Championship, Senior Inter-Club Championship, and the Jamison Cup Inter-Club Finals. The Association also conducts ten USGA Qualifying Rounds which date back to 1927. They include the Open, Senior Open, Amateur, Amateur Public Links, Junior Amateur, Mid-Amateur, and Senior Amateur. Championship work includes scheduling, entry processing, player communications, course preparation, and officiating. Real-Time Scoring was introduced in 2002, with online entries following in 2004.
