"Let's Be Frank: The Story of Frank B. Fuhrer Jr." by Gerry Dulac

Filled with many interesting stories and life lessons, "Let's Be Frank" is the story of Frank B. Fuhrer, Jr., businessman and sports enthusiast. In golf, Mr. Fuhrer is the area's premier golf benefactor. His significant support includes both the Tri-State PGA Section and the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association. He has sponsored the WPGA's team matches with other golf associations since 1994. His donations completely underwrite the WPGA teams for the Palmer Cup match against the Tri-State PGA, and the Williamson Cup, a junior match with ten other golf associations in the northeast and Canada.

From the inside cover:

"He has screamed at Evonne Goolagong, tried to outhustle Bobby Riggs, told Curtis Strange how to win the U.S. Open and fired nearly half of his professional soccer team in one afternoon. Oh yeah, and he was once called "the most obnoxious owner in sports" by one of his own players. Frank Fuhrer has been one of the most compelling and polarizing figures in Western Pennsylvania the past four decades, a self-made multi-millionaire who has made a habit, if not a financial fortune, of doing things his way. His ability to combine a keen business mind with a riverboat gambler's mentality has helped him grow Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale into the 20th largest beer distributorship in the country, selling 15 million cases of 850 different brands from his 24-acre kingdon on Pittsburgh's South Side. But it is his love for the game of golf that inspired him to spend millions of his own moneyh to support, grow and promote the sport like nobody else in his hometown area."

Mr. Fuhrer was inducted into the Western Pennsylvania Golf Hall of Fame in 2014.

The cost of the book is $20 and proceeds go toward supporting junior golf in Western Pennsylvania. Please contact the WPGA Office at 412-826-2180, or purchase online, to secure your copy.
